3D Secure 2.0 Support for VISA
PayMaya Enterprise Payment Gateway now supports 3D Secure 2.0 for Visa transactions.
3D Secure 2.0 or 3DS2 for short, is the latest version of a protocol designed to make online transactions more secure. It aims to be less intrusive than the first version, in which the user is now only asked to pass a challenge if the transaction is deemed to be high-risk. Visa is the first card scheme that we made compliant to this new protocol, with MasterCard and American Express soon to follow.

Sample 3DS2 authentication page
The biggest change that this would introduce to merchants is that non-3DS cards would now have to go through the 3DS2 servers by default. In this regard, non-3DS cards are not encouraged given that there is no guarantee of a successful authentication, due to the card scheme’s 3DS rules and the issuing bank’s.
What this means to you as an integrating merchant or developer?

- For existing live environments, non-3DS supported VISA card might experience authentication failures. We highly recommend using 3DS supported VISA cards.
